CIL moves to bigger premises to cater for continued expansion
Custom Interconnect Limited (CIL) is to move to a new manufacturing facility in Andover. The move to larger premises is necessary due to the rapid expansion that the company has experienced over the past three years with a growth in annual turnover from £2.5 million to £5.0 million.

The new 18,608ft² facility will allow the company to consolidate
its manufacturing plants under one roof rather than occupying
two sites at its present HQ in Whitchurch. All 60 employees are
moving with CIL but the move to Andover will allow the company
to call on a larger pool of skilled labour for future recruitment
plans.
This new facility will also house COOLLED, a new company within
the CIL group that was formed earlier this year to exploit the
commercial potential of COOLLED technology, a new method of packaging
LED arrays with sufficient power to make LED technology viable
in industrial applications.
Managing director, John Boston explains the rationale behind the
move saying: "At CIL we offer a true 'one stop shop' electronics
sub-contract design and manufacturing capability that provides
in-house circuit design, CAD layout, prototyping, auto SMT, BGA,
0402, X-ray, die/wire bonding, flying probe test and much more.
"Over the past two and a half years we have self-financed a major
capital equipment investment programme of just over £1 million
on new equipment and we are about to add a fourth in-line SMT
placement machine and a second selective soldering machine. This
provides us with one of the most up-to-date and comprehensive
electronics manufacturing facilities in Europe and it is important
that the whole process is integrated under one roof. The new building
will also provide COOLLED with separate administration offices
while sharing manufacturing facilities with CIL."
The new factory is centrally placed being a few minutes walk from
Andover railway station and a mile or so off the main A303 from
London to West Country and with good links to both the M3 and
M4 motorways.
