Design for manufacture / DFM
All customer Supplied Data is checked, cleaned and fully qualified prior to importing into the Custom Interconnect Management Control System. All queries and anomalies are verified with the Customer and all data, following importation becomes subject to formal release and thereafter subject to strict Change Control. For any subsequent changes or amendments, authorisation is required by the Customer using our Change Control Process. Front End Engineering are responsible for creating the provisional product structures and associated Process Routings. All drawings, Test and Inspection Plans and other Controlled Data is held in a central location and is subject to back-up procedures, all under the control of Front End Engineering and the CIL IT Team.
New Product Introduction
NPI is a cornerstone process at CIL where all products at the correct level of Technical Readiness are subject to full or qualified NPI. The NPI process is operated and controlled by Production Engineering, Quality Assurance and always in conjunction with the Customer. All processes are verified, with records made of critical process parameters, readings and findings. NPI formats may be changed or qualified as part of the Contract Review Process, or under specific Customer Instruction. Reports of all NPI findings and recommendations are issued to the Customer for review, and formal follow-up actions are agreed and progressed.
Design for test / DFT
One of the first questions we ask customers is "What is your test strategy", and most answer that "they do not have one, what do you propose". Custom Interconnect are able to assist clients with arriving at technically suitable, cost effective Test Solutions. Product testing is often overlooked and if this remains un-addressed it could compromise product quality and reliability. CIL's reputation relies upon supplying the highest quality conforming products and therefore the provision of robust test solutions is an inherent part of meeting these business objectives. Production Data Configuration
The all important manufacturing data output is compiled and managed by the Custom Interconnect Production Engineering Team, in readiness for next stage production or Production release. Arising data is generated and controlled by the Team, typically this includes, but is not limited to:-
- Solder Jet Print Station programming
- Solder Paste Print Programs
- Off-line Placement Programs
- Re-Flow Profiles
- 3D AOI Off-line program
- TAKAYA Flying Probe off-line Program
- Test Expert simulation reporting
- Product Test Specifications and Quality Records
All such data-sets feed into the future manufacturing and verification stages of the New Product Introduction Process. Any adjustments or amendments are made and recorded as part of the NPI process and under the rules of our Change Control procedure. Members of our Management & Engineering Teams are considered Industry experts and sit on various Industry Committees and Steering groups, such as the IPC.
